PROPERTY AND HUMAN RIGHTS
THE ORGANIZATION
Community of Volunteers
for the World (CVM) has over 30 years’ experience in the implementation of
development projects in East Africa countries
and 14 years’ experience in tackling the spread of HIV/AIDS epidemic in
Ethiopia and Tanzania. Since 2004 CVM is
in Tanzania working to support most vulnerable groups in collaboration with
Government Departments, Religious
Institutions as well as all sectors of Civil Society at all levels. Nowadays
CVM is working in Bagamoyo District
implementing activities dealing with GBV, girls’ right to education, women
and local associations empowerment and
HIV/AIDS prevention. CVM philosophy is
to promote the multi-sectorial approach in addressing the problem of HIV/AIDS,
to build the capacity of civil society
to address the problems with local people take a leading role in finding their
own solutions in addressing the problem.
POSITION OVERVIEW
Starting from January 2015 CVM will implement a new project
in Bagamoyo District to support local community to face challenges due to the
construction of the new port.
For the implementation of the new project CVM is looking for
a legal advisor competent in land grabbing
(property rights) and human rights.
The main tasks will be:
§
trainings on property rights for local
communities
§
legal assistance to small land owners
§
trainings on workers’ rights and gender issues
(bar workers)
§
legal assistance to GBV victims
The activities will mainly be conducted at village level.
§
postgraduate degree in law, social sciences and
human rights
§
at least one year of professional experience
aslegal advisor on issues regarding land grabbing
§
knowledge and expertise on gender issues and
specifically GBV is an asset
§
having worked for an NGO or local associations
is an asset
§
experience in conducting trainings and mentoring
activities for local communities is a strong asset
§
proficient knowledge in english and swahili is
mandatory
§
strong written and verbal communication skills
§
good computer skills
§
capacity to work in multicultural teams
§
keen sense of ethics, integrity, credibility and
commitment
§
share the NGO vision
